A. The provision of postgraduate education, advanced knowledge, background and know-how, research and practical training of postgraduate students in the scientific field of Administration and Management of Health and Social Care Services.
B. The creation of high-level specialised staff in the development of research and technology in the Administration, Organisation and Management of Health and Social Care Services, the continuous improvement of the quality of the services provided in order to meet the ever-changing socio-economic needs.
The Postgraduate Programme achieves its objectives by investing in:
- The development of modern teaching methods tailored to the needs of students and the promotion of research;
- The connection with the labour market and the domestic and international educational and research community in order to achieve objectives of common interest;
- The continuous renewal and enrichment of its logistical infrastructure.
Upon completion of their studies, the postgraduate students of the MSc:
- Have advanced knowledge in individual fields, which entail a critical understanding of theories and principles;
- Possess advanced skills, combine understanding with application, having the necessary skill and innovation to solve complex and unpredictable problems in specialised fields of study and work;
- Develop problem-solving skills, transferring the knowledge and decision-making and management skills acquired to health and social care services.
Postgraduate students of the MSc, upon completion of their studies, are able to carry out professional work, having, in addition to the above competences, the following specific competences and skills which are important for ensuring quality at work and interacting effectively with people in the working environment of health and social care services (horizontal skills and competences):
(a) Synthetic thinking skills, based on the capacity of creative synthesis of differentiated processes, so as not to threaten the coherence and unity of collective work, to facilitate adaptation to changing external conditions and to ensure the functioning of the working group.
(b) Administrative skills (abilities in successful functioning of working groups and the creation of a ‘spirit’ of collective work, competences in participatory decision-making, ability to solve the problems of the working group, ability to formulate individual work plans and collective action plans for the development of a health or social care service).
c) Behavioural and cooperative skills, based on understanding and accepting each other’s uniqueness, developing communication techniques, creating a climate of trust and security in order to promote the participation of all, as well as transparency and sincerity in working relations.
d) Social skills (communication skills, negotiation skills, motivation and activation skills).
The Postgraduate Programme has been prepared on the basis of the instructions of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) [former Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQA)] and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
