Dr. Maria Tsirintani (PhD in Health Informatics, The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) is Professor of Health Information Systems at the Business Administration Department, Faculty of Administrative, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of West Attica of Athens (UniWA) in Greece. She was academic director of the Social Policy Sector in the Department of Business Administration of UniWA (2020-21) and former academic coordinator of the European LLP/ ERASMUS+ program in the Faculty of Administrative, Economics and Social Sciences of UniWA (2018-2020) and Athens University of Applied Sciences (2013-2018).
She has undertaken research and teaching since 1995 at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. She is the academic supervisor and teacher of the course “Applied ICT in Health and Welfare Units” in the MSc Program “Administration and Management of Health and Welfare Units” and also academic supervisor and teacher of the course “Quality Management in the Public Sector” in the MSc program “Public Administration-Public Management” of UniWA. In 2018-2019, she collaborated as member of the educational team with the Department of Primary Level Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens for the MSc program “Informatics in Education”, academic supervisor and teacher of the course “Health Information Systems-Patients Record” in the MSc Program «Health Management” of the University of Piraeus (2006-2007), in the educational team of the National School of Public Administration and also professor of Health Informatics at the Military Academy of Athens (1998-2005). Her teaching and research interests focus on the scientific fields: Health Informatics, Telemedicine, Electronic Patient Records, E-Health, Quality Management, Health and Welfare Information Management.
She worked since 1993 in private and public health care sector in Athens, Greece until 2007 when she was initially elected Ass. Professor at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. More specifically, she was Director in the Informatics Department (2005-2007) and also Director of the Educational Department and the Department of Research and Development (2002-2005) of the 1st Regional Health Care Sector in Greece. She was Educational Supervisor of the Hospital Information System of Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center and member of the Quality team and the Telemedicine team of the Center (1994-2000) with participation in the research projects TALOS-HERMES. She also worked as an expert in her scientific interests. More specifically, representative of the 1st Regional Health Care Sector in Greece and evaluator in Information Society (2003-2007), Nursing and Health Informatics expert in ICN in coding terms of ICNP and also in research projects of the Health and Welfare Department at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. She is author or co-author of over 60 publications in international and Greek publications in peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes and conference proceedings while she has written an educational textbook and has done the scientific work on two more books on her research interests.
